A new school year has begun. I find myself nervous about getting back into the swing of things. After two semesters off and a new part time job, I wonder if I can find a balance quickly. As of now, I still don't have a burning desire to run out and start up a new company. However, I do know that my husband and I have often talked about starting a catering company when he retires from the tech industry in 20 or so years. This week I read about how you have to find something that you are passionate about, and are willing to put in the tens of thousands of hours to perfect it. If you don't absolutely love it now, after all that time, you really won't love it. I love sports, but I think playing basketball for a living would take my joy out of it. Then there is baking. It gives me release from whatever pent up frustrations I have. I could do it all day, and maybe be a more zen person. Who knows?
One thing that struck me today as I sat down to write this is the importance of immediately writing down something when it jumps out in your mind. As I read Elder Bednar's talk this week there was a quote that jumped out at me and I remember thinking, I should right that down. I didn't listen, and now I can't remember what it was even about. I will do better on that.
I am looking forward to this class, and I hope to find that spark within.
